Has anyone ever played the PC game for the first Mummy (Stephen Sommers) movie? It's actually kinda fun. Also, has anyone played any of the other games based off the movies?
Just wondering, since a few of us seem to like Egyptian things in general, plus there was some Mummy talk in that Scorpion King thread =3

I haven't played the first Mummy movie game but I was just watching that movie the other day and on the DVD extras there was the trailer for it. Didn't look that good but maybe they thought showing non-stop tedious combat draws more buyers. The Mummy Returns for Gameboy Color, don't think it's good at all but I guess it's good to have. And just a few weeks ago I bought The Mummy for PS2. It's based on the animated series which I never ever cared for, and the game itself is really poorly made. But that doesn't matter to me, really. Last time I played, a mummy warrior came out of the room he was meant to be in and followed me EVERYWHERE. It was like a horror movie. I jumped onto a ledge thinking he wouldn't reach me but he just walked into it and got up. So it's fun in that sense I guess. There's no clues to the puzzles either, which makes it just annoying especially since there are no guides or anything online.
Oh and also have the Scorpion King game. Started it again a few weeks ago but it's too repetitive and frustrating to play through.
I have to say the Mummy Returns on PS2 sounds interesting... You can play as Imhotep!

Random update. Not long after I made that post I got The Mummy Returns game for PS2. I am a huge fan of the series and I wasn't expecting much from the movie tie-in but WOW, I actually think the game is very good for what it is. It doesn't deserve all the abuse it gets. I've only played Rick's half of the game, and apparently that's the one that sucks so I wonder how awesome Imhotep will be. The Scorpion King boss is the toughest boss I've ever played! I can't beat it! Right now I've went back to The Scorpion King: Rise of the Akkadian. I'm using cheats because the game is too frustrating and boring without them, they help to speed the game up and make it more fun. I love how Godsmack's "I Stand Alone" plays in the menu, that's my favorite song of all time. I know it's in the soundtrack to the movie, but having it in the video game is pretty neat as well. If it weren't for The Rock's involvement in The Mummy series I might not have watched the movies, and this site probably wouldn't exist. ;D I'm not sure what The Mummy 3 game is like, but I despise that movie with a burning passion so unless it's good (which it doesn't seem to be, from what I've read) or is extremely cheap I won't bother with it.

Very cool, thanks for your insight! I've always been curious about the Mummy Returns PS2 game- it just looked so darn cool, but I was afraid it'd turn out as crap. I've gotta pick that one up then!
Oh gosh, that sounds creepy. Glitches and random stuff like that can be pretty fun I guessXD I never really liked the animated series, it weirded me out >>
Ahh, wrestling fan eh? I loved it myself back in the day, played the N64 game all the time. I got into Mummy cause I just love Egypt in general, but after those movies I was just plain obsessed. Then I heard about Sphinx and my brain short-circuited from the epic.
Mummy 3 can burn in the deepest pits of despair and fail. I hope they lost all their money making that game on every bleeping system.

Very cool, thanks for your insight! I've always been curious about the Mummy Returns PS2 game- it just looked so darn cool, but I was afraid it'd turn out as crap. I've gotta pick that one up then! Be warned; this game definitely isn't for everybody... You just have to remember that it's a movie game, and not expect too much from it. For the price I got it for, it was sure worth it and I haven't even played the Imhotep side of the game yet. I thought it was just pretty fun to play thru and a lot better than I'd expected from reading all teh n00b reviews on Gamespot... How did you guess! Mummy 3 can burn in the deepest pits of despair and fail. I hope they lost all their money making that game on every bleeping system. Actually they only made it on PS2 and DS. Kinda like how there was only a Mummy Returns game for PS2 and GameBoy Color. The PS2 version was developed by Eurocom (developer of Sphinx) but I heard it sucks, and I hate the movie, so I'm not going to bother wasting time or money on it.

I've heard of that game before, but never played it or looked into it. Personally I've never been able to get into that kind of game, although I do think they're pretty damn impressive!
Although the whole game isn't themed around ancient Egypt I must say I've always loved the Egyptian themed levels in Crash Bandicoot 3 Warped. If you have a PS1 and you've never played either of the first three Crash Bandicoot games, I'd highly recommend them all. (As you may know I'm a huge nut when it comes to Crash Bandicoot) The music is awesome too.

I've played the PS2 version for The Mummy Returns. Mainly I play as Imhotep, because who doesn't want to play as a Cursed Mummy?! I've also played the PS2 version of the third movie, but I think we all know that the Mummies in China just isn't right.

Although we know about the movie, did you find the Mummy 3 game any good? Eurocom developed it, so I'd be surprised if it isn't. And I've still yet to play as Imhotep in The Mummy Returns yet, although it should be fun when I do someday. The Scorpion King boss in Rick's adventure is just too impossible! I feel inclined to beat it before I start on Imhotep though. Something I forgot to mention about the Scorpion King game before, just like in Sphinx, at the end of the game you fight the egyptian god Set. He looks much different, although the boss fight is actually rather similar to the one in sphinx.. a bit harder though.

The video game for the Mummy 3 was... ok. I wish you could play as the Emperor, but you can't.
And for the battle with Set at the end of Rise of the Akkadian, to me, it's really hard, don't know why.
