I've decided that in my spare time, I'd rework the Sphinx content and make better replicas, of course, such a far fetched idea because Sphinx's models sort of can't be beat, but this idea was jogged by the thought of buying the Sphinx franchise after I've released my first game, (from profit of course) I've remodeled the Skeletal Spider .3ds as an attachment: Tell me what you think! Thanks for the positive feedback! I think I can do far better than that, given more time... this is already old work to me, heh. Now I come back to it, the eyes look enormous...

Are you planning to make a fan sequel? It'd be great!

As a starting video game coder, my intention is to purchase the rights to Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy if possible anymore and continue the game series how it should be, no introduction to voice acting, still the same styles... this is really what these models would've been for, but clearly the models need work.

I see, good luck then!!
Anyway, if I were you, I would add something more to the already existing Regions. Personally, when I saw those Pyramids at Abydos I hoped to be able to reach them during the story but sadly there's not the possibility to do that. And that's just an example. I loved this game and after all these years I still recognize its quality, but we must admit that it could be even better. And yes, I'm talking about the voice acting too (and about that damned flying Sphynx!). xD

Quick question: How are you even gonna GET the rights? Also, Apep's tail could stand to bit a bit thinner.

That's the good point, Per Ankh. How are you going to get the rights former Eurocom developers and artists who were involved of the game? It costs a lot of fortune.

Sorry for my inactivity..
Well, the plan as to HOW I am going to get the rights is currently unknown, I figure that since nobody really wants to pursue a development process for another game on the professional level that the value of the rights makes it somewhat cheaper to obtain, I can only guess however, and yes, clearly money is still a part of the equation.
I guess the models (for new NPCs) can be recycled if they have no other purpose, although I admit, this would be a shame to see happen since the game deserves another shot.

UPDATE!! New model, suppose it's just a reference for now, but it's a new take on a monster: The Apepian Centipede, sworn guards to Apep. Attachments:centipede_proto.obj (350.65 KB)

huh... interesting i've had the same idea of buying the rights to sphinx since eurocom went out of business. although I am planing on creating my own company and my own IP's. I didn't think anyone else had the same idea as me. but I plan to do a remake/remaster first with updated graphics, adding cut out and brand new levels, adding more side quests and cut out/new monsters. though I plan to do all this when I have made a few games of my own to perfect my future team and I's game making skills, and hopefully boost in my company's popularity. I have no idea where the rights to sphinx are because eurocom itself may have never been the IP holder as thq was involved, so its possible it could have been sold to someone in the "Package" deals when thq went down. Pretty much they sold of there company's IP's in bulk so someone else might have it but they don't want to do anything with it. one of the company's that bought a huge chunk of thq was ubisoft for example and I can tell you this, if they have it they will NOT sell it cheap even if they don't want it. My way of trying to tell who has the rights is by provoking them. I personally, as an artist know alot about copyright and fair use, before eurocom and thq died I used to put a disclaimer on all of my SATCM art. Now though I don't, you see even if one does not care for the ip they hold one thing they DO like is showing their authority over such an IP so they will put in a copyright claim for unfair use of their characters and property. it's a long shot but hopefully one day someone does attempt such a thing to me. so I'll know where its gone. I have tried searching high and low and I can tell you this. I HIGHLY doubt anyone from eurocom or THQ has the IP/rights anymore. I'm not saying this to be a jerk or anything, but if I think it would be good if we work together when the time comes.

Wow, seeing messages from a year ago that I missed is a shame, nevertheless, after reading it over, I think a collaboration would be an optimistic idea, maybe even the right way to go. I suppose I'm rather late to the party, however, seeing as seven months have passed since this proposition. Nevertheless, we can only hope that it works out. In other news, I adapted the models; they are untextured, so them being the colors they're shown as is (clearly) not final: Skeletal Spider: (I've added a tail to it, but that can come off if it's not appealing to most people) Mummy Worm: (Pretty early mesh, not really finished) Apep:
